Bored

I have so many Cambodia pics to put up but seriously not in the mood.. Must be post-holiday depression.. just idling my time away..

Sigh.. do you get the feeling of not wanting to do anything?

Anyway pointless blog post.

Just want to post a pic that makes me happy.

I bought those ball like fairy lights by the way and they were totally useless cos the balls were folded in half and 'si beh' hard to coax into a ball shape, plus one of the packages the wires were out (yup silly me bought two), but that could easily be fixed.. the worse thing to discover mid trying to figure out how to make the folded-into-half balls full again was... that the electrical ports in Cambodia are different than the one in Malaysia so i have just bargained myself into buying 'non-lightable' fairy lights! Genius!

Work sucks..

Hello!

Hello from Angkor!

This is my first overseas trip (Singapore not counted) and it was amazing. I love getting to know the culture , the people, the history and what better way to start than the hugely culturally rich nation of Cambodia!

The biggest draw of all, Angkor Wat.

I have so much to tell and so many pictures to show but i guess that shall be left to a better time when  i can arrange my thoughts. Now all i wanna do is stone!

Love you girls for giving me such a fantastic holiday!

Japanese Magazines

Japanese magazines are OMG so good.. pretty pictures, nice products, hair-style manuals and step by step make up tutorials and most of all the gifts with purchase.

In fact so many Japanese, Taiwanese, Singaporean mags have great gifts with purchase! Why not Malaysia??

I always drool when I go to Singapore and see all the 'free' stuff!

For example: I'm eye-ing these now.

April issue of Sweet magazine comes with a Jill Stuart Cafe pouch.

Actual photo of it.. Looks a bit weirdly shaped in real life though.

Lots and lots of it in stores.

The April issue of Spring also comes with a Jill Stuart product.. a tote bag.. but looks really ugly.

The Gelato Pique 2010 Spring Summer Mook comes with a wonderful traveling case.

This looks to be of damn good quality. But with a conversion rate of RM2.4 to SG$ 1, i gotta think twice. Not paying RM60++ for a gift..

Why can't all bookstores have this!! Woots.. the sight of happiness

Before going to Singapore why not check out what lovely gift with purchase are in store in the lion city at the moment? These blogs are up to date and very concise without missing a thing!

Chinese New Year 2010/ Desaru Lotus Resort

Whats Chinese New Year without pictures right? Even though i was sick and all, i still had pretty good pictures to show for it. Here's to Chinese New Year and all happy festivals that bring families from far and wide together!

Me and my bros~ any resemblance?

Every year i take a pic from the second floor down to the garden below. Cos weirdly enough the entrance of the house is at the second floor.

CNY is not complete without cute little girls pics.

Every year sure must tangkap Zhi Yi to take pics.

Last year all these little girls were posing for me and asking me to take their pics. This year everyone was running away from me pulak. They see me .. scream .. and run!! I'm so scary mer? Here they were 'taking revenge' by taking a pic of me instead!

Love the rustic feel of my eldest aunts place.

Me and my eldest aunt.

Me and XH!

All this was on the eve and first day of new year. After that sick liao.

But still can go Desaru to the newly reopened Lotus resort, previously known as Desaru Impian. The last time we went there was ages ago before i was even with JH. I was probably in form 6 at the time and similarly it coincided with CNY! There were lovebirds everywhere and there was a lovely theme park with a ferris wheel, merry-go-rounds, spinning tea-cups.. etc. It was so romantic at night! Why no pics.. haha at the time we were still using old school camera with film (only 36). All hail digital cameras!

No more theme park there now but thats ok cos the water theme park was just as fun. Too bad i was SICK!

Taken from the balcony.

Inside the 2 room apartment. If you're a couple going there i suggest the one room duplex! Super romantic 2 story room and its cheaper!

But what i love the most was...

... great Singapore TV reception! Over the years of coming to Desaru every CNY, my only grouse was the poor or non-existent Singapore TV reception. I had to spend many a boring night watching stupid cable TV or go and watch whatever movie they were showing at the hall. But not this year!! The reception is clearer than my own home!! Definitely did not mind being stuck in the apartment due to not feeling well. Loves..

So i loved the water-slide.. we start at the far end on the right...everyone gets a float to sit on

..... then you go underground and into the next pool.. the water goes really fast at some parts ..

and you end the adrenaline rush by sliding into the big pool.. look at the left side of the pic.. children with their see through floats running out to get back to the starting point again.

Of course going to the beach and just enjoying the man-made wonders would be really silly..

Clear water.. soft sand.. refreshing sea breeze and lots of sea shells.. whats not to like?

Pardon the pajama shorts! In my defense I'm on holiday.

Unintentionally 'yeng' picture...

The resort just a few feet away.

Breathtaking..

What i love about the beach is that there is life all around us.. our annual nature study field trip..

Hermit crabs in every shell.

Mr . Salamander

And of course crabs..

There were really big crabs like the one we eat in the shallow end of the sea but of course too chicken to catch it.. big pincers wey!

And how could i forget.. the coconut. It fills up..

and it splashes galons of water on the eagerly awaiting crowd!

And there were lots of photo opportunities too..

All in all everyone had fun even sick old me.. being feverish and being splashed with water.. felt great! Lets just hope the crowd is enough to sustain this resort so it does not close down again!

Work

Work work work.. the calls are piling cos my pregnant collegue is not doing calls anymore and will be on maternity leave for a minimum of 2 months. I forgot just how tiring it is doing back to back calls. I've just finished doing back to back and EOD calls and i'm really drained. Yet i have to do it again on Friday. Oh well.. No pain no gain.Thank God for pms off.. i've been coming home and sleep the whole evening. Funnily enough i seldom get sick when i'm under pressure. Maybe due to the adrenaline rush?

Anyway working in the hospital you encounter funny ,silly things happening everyday.

1) Recently we had a new phone operator who is super annoying. Initially we gave thought it's cos he was new so we gave him some time to grow into his job. But seriously he is pi**ing us off everytime he is working. First of all when we cal the conversation usually goes like this:

Operator: Selamat Pagi, Hospital 'so and so' boleh saya bantu?

Me: Say Dr. C. Tolong sambung Dr O and G on call.

Operator: (Almost deafening volume) DR O AND G....SIAPA YANG BERCAKAP NI? (I already introduced myself and he's asking again when other operators can recognize our voice immediately)

Me: (Irritated) Dr C

Operator: DOC...TOR..... C. OK.SAM...BUNG DOC..TOR O..AND..G. SEBENTAR YA.

By that time already gone deaf. Worse of all he connected to a wrong doctor and in another hospital!!

Omg.. but thats not all. He always gets the doctors mixed up even though our names are vastly different. He'll call me when i'm not on-call mistaking me for a colleague of mine who has an Indian name.. when i'm the only female Chinese doctor in the hospital!

Not only that he called my boyfriend at 2 am when he was sound asleep when he was meant to call another doctor.

Seriously we cannot switch off our phones at night because who knows when we are needed to help but seriously we can't even get a good nights sleep when we are on-call!

Ha ha but me and my colleagues get a kick out of exchanging horror-stories about his particular phone operator.

2) Patients parents who spent loads of money over 10 years on homeopathy medicine asking for social welfare help for transport home! And it was approved. But my hospital cleaner who is Indian and the sole breadwinner for her family was unable to get help to buy a RM75 aero chamber after we referred her to social welfare. Unfair!

3) After working 28 hours straight, as i was walking out of the hospitals with my over-night bag at 12pm as i was pm off, i heard a snide remark from a hospital attendant (sort of like an office boy). "Wah pukul berapa dah balik ni?" Try not sleeping the whole night and racking your brains off before opening your mouths idiots!

4) Parents who request for admission only to ask 'when can we go home?' 2 hours later.

5) A cute 4 month old baby who had cologne poured into his mouth by his mischievous brother!

6) A 7 year old boy who 'accidentally' drank feminine wash!

7) Sudden arrangements of blood donation drives. And at every donation drive i see at least one person fainting. And when they finally come to they tell you in fact that they have a phobia of seeing blood.

But seeing the adorable kids everyday getting better just makes my day.

Red with white polka dots

I'm seeing a pattern lately and that is red with white polka dots.
Below the photographic evidence.

First i got this darling red with white hearts wallet from accessorize.

Then i got inspired by a post from cheeserland which resulted with the following amateurish pedicure.

Ignore the veins.A dream for line setting. Who needs anatomy books? In exams i look at my own protruding veins. Ha ha just kidding.

Then i notice the BB cream i bought looks to be of the same theme.

Well almost.

Sorry very lame i know but i guess this is one of those random posts on random days when i don't know what to post but want to post anyway since i have nothing creative or remotely un-routine to do.Hope you wasted some random time reading this.

I shall end this with a crappy music video of a really wonderful new song from Derrick Hoh (He Wei Jian) called Bian Hua the theme song from the new channel U show the Illusionist which i probably won't get to watch since i'm stuck here with Astro being the only form of TV entertainment i get, which i get to watch depending on weather conditions.Seriously we pay good money to watch shows only to be interrupted by weather?

Anyway enough of my grouses on Malaysian TV. I'm just still not used to it after all my childhood years of free, meaningful, sometimes educational, weather uninterrupted Singapore TV which now comes in high definition also for FREE. Not some Astro beyond rip-off which everyone will be forced to subscribe to.

Anyway here's the song i've been listening to on loop.
