Salvatore Ferragamo Freebie with Monomax

This is a pretty good freebie with Japanese men's magazine monomax. A Salvatore Ferragamo multi-case for less than Rm 60? Sounds good to me. I wonder how's the quality though. This freebie is in conjunction with the brands new perfume hence the word ' parfums' on the front.

Coming out in Japan on the 10th of April.

Coach freebie with More

I've delayed this post for so long this magazine has been out in the shelves for weeks!! The on;y reason i'm still posting this though, is that it's still selling in Kinokuniya KLCC. They brought in loads of this magazine with the anticipation that readers will buy for the easily recognizable brand that is Coach.

I've actually done a review in a previous post.. so this post will be just to show you the pictures~

The freebie nicely packaged in a cardboard box with Coach motif.

The actual product, which only looks big cos i gave it a close-up.

The jewelry case all opened up. Top part for bracelets and neclaces, middle column for rings and bottom 3 compartments for  tiny bibs and bobs, but no closure means it might fall off anytime!

Faintly printed on Coach logo.

My wedding rings demonstrating how the pouch can be used.

The real item, compared to the advert on the magazine illustrating the minuscule size of the pouch.

Here are some upcoming mooks and magazines as featured in the magazine.

Russet mook with a two way bag.

Cath Kidston button closure bag with the latest issue of MORE which is already in Singapore and should be out in Malaysia too.

Current issue of Spur with a blah pouch.

Maquia comes with a boring tote.

Baila comes with 2 bags (enough of these bags already!!)

Ella's (SHE) Wedding Pictures (Ella guān 關 dǎo 島 pāi 拍 hūn 婚 shā 紗)

Sorry for suddenly bombarding you with such a slew of entertainment news, but i gotta blog while i have the time right? Plus Ella's wedding to Malaysian Alvin Lai, is too good a news not to share.

My friend from Malacca is actually the friend of Alvin Lai's brother. Hope she gets invited to the wedding haha.. (No la.. just joking nothing to do with me)

Anyway here are pictures from their recent pre-wedding photo shoot in Guam. Enjoy the pictures!

I actually prefer all these natural 'ourdoorsy' shoots to the traditional ones.

Apparently lovers are supposed to write down their names and lock it together with a lock, hence the amount of locks in the picture.Don't quote me on this one, i got it from a badly translated google translate.

Here's the video of their photoshoot. Famous people have all the fun!

Here are the more traditional gown and suit and church type wedding pictures.

Ella and Alvin look really good together! Here's to a long, blissful and lasting marriage for the two of them. Hmm when's Hebe's turn?

As for me: Time to study!

Makiyo Taxi Scandal- The story so far

I guess by now the whole Makiyo and the taxi driver scandal would have been old news, yet it is still very riveting how the whole story unfolded. In case you want to know the story so far, here it is.

Who is Makiyo?

She's a half Japanese half Taiwanese celebrity host/model (kinda like Paris Hilton but without the pedigree). She's Japanese but came to Taiwan to seek her fortune. She was a regular on the Taiwanese variety show scene and was famous for her full figure, cutesy voice, and pretty face. She was also much rumoured to be Show Luo's ex-girlfriend.

She was just paid a small fortune to pose only in soap bubbles to promote a certain body wash (the company is probably totally regretting it's decision now- wasted money for bad publicity.)

Then on February 10th 2012, Makiyo's downfall began.

She was purportedly involved in the taxi scandal when her ' guy friend', Takateru Tomoyori was caught for beating up a taxi driver so bad that the poor uncle suffered intracranial haemorrhage and had to be warded in the Intensive Care Unit. At the time, Makiyo and her 2 friends, Yazi and Xiang Yi (celebrity calarefares) were also at the scene.

Tomoyori admitted to beating up the cab driver and claimed he was the only one responsible. His claim was backed up by all 3 girls. And so it seems that was the end of the story. In f act they even had a press conference to clear the air that Makiyo was in no way involved in the crime.

In the press conference, Makiyo explained that after they had gone on the taxi, they immediately buckled up, but the taxi driver was rude to them. When they were about to pay the taxi driver somehow brushed against her (breast as reported by many news reels but not mentioned in this particular clip). As a result her friend who was under the influence of alcohol got mad and beat the taxi uncle up.

And that was that. Until...

A taxi driver in Taiwan who had unwittingly taped the whole action from the pre-installed cameras on cabs in Taiwan, revealed his footage to the police. The police however released the footage to the news station instead of producing the evidence in court. The judge found out about the footage by tuning in to the local news.

This is the footage that was recorded.

The footage may be grainy, but it was clear enough to see that Tomoyori was not the only one who was hitting the cab driver.A female with long hair in a white coat also joined by kicking the already on the ground cab driver with her high heel shoes while her two friends stood by the side.In fact Tomoyori was seen trying to restrain her from further injuring the cab driver.

The lies Makiyo had spun were out of the bag, and led to a huge public outlash against her. Miss Makiyo had no choice but to come out with her 2 friends to apologize to the public.

She also went to the hospital with her cancer-stricken mother (for sympathy votes) to visit the poor cab driver.

In case you're still interested, here's a reenactment of what happened that eventful night.

So how did this story end?

Here's the news on the latest development.Taken from ChannelNewsAsia website:

"At a Taipei District Court hearing, however, both parties told the court that they had reached a settlement of NT$3 million (S$128,300) with the cab driver and will complete the deal by the next hearing on April 5.
Tomoyori and Makiyo will share the payment in equal amounts, according to one of his friends.
In the indictment, prosecutors had asked for a prison term of six years for Tomoyori and four years for Makiyo.
In light of the settlement, however, prosecutors suggested lighter sentences with probation."

So the thing is, Makiyo might not have to go to jail for having a go at the taxi driver, but her two innocent bystander friends, may be charged and do some jail time for providing false information to help Makiyo, cos they have no way they can settle that with money. Sad fact of life. Don't break the law for your friend!

Laura Ashley X Uniqlo

I read about it a while ago and wondered when the Laura Ashley with Uniqlo collaboration would be coming to Malaysia. Well, wait no more, i popped by KLCC and saw it in stores today, all new and fresh.

If you missed the Cath Kidston collaboration last year, this one is pretty simmilar, except that there are tunics in this collection. In the UK there are scarves too, but i didn't see any in stores in KLCC. Perhaps i wasn't looking hard enough.

Expect loads and loads of floral prints. Here's a look at the collection.

Here's how floral prints can look trendy.

Comfy cotton tees and sleeveless tunics. The tees go for RM59.90 while the tunics are going at RM79.90. Pretty steep prices for cotton clothes, but cute nonetheless.

Are you a fan? Or do you think this is a collection you'd rather sit out since florals make it look like you're wearing pajamas?

The Malaysian Uniqlo website doesn't feature the collection yet but you can have a look at the UK Uniqlo website.

Coach freebie with More Japanese magazine

I bought More Japanese magazine just for the promising looking Coach jewelry case freebie.I'm always misplacing my wedding ring and I have no idea where to put my more precious jewelry. This pouch seemed the perfect

The problem though is that I failed to have a proper look at the dimensions of the jewelry pouch and I was taken aback at how small it was! The jewelry pouch was covered in signature Coach print with a nice bright pink tie closure and inner compartments. The Coach emblem is printed on the inside too. Despite the small size, it actually serves its purpose pretty well.A jewelry pouch is not meant to be huge anyway. It holds many rings, a zipped compartment for necklaces and 4 compartments which are unzipped.

The next issue of More comes with a Cath Kidston tote.

Holiday Plaza Jb handphone accesories wonderland

Holiday Plaza in Johor Bahru is probably the oldest shopping centre in Johor Bahru. When i was a kid, it was the only shopping centre around and it was touted as the longest shopping centre in Malaysia. The shopping centre is not as popular now with the mushrooming of shopping centres in JB, the most recent one being KSL City situated right across the road (walking distance! Talk about competition). However Holiday Plaza is not without it's charms.

I scratched my head thinking about the reason why it had become less popular, besides the fact that no major renovation job had been undertaken since i was a child. Then i realised the reason is that it had not changed! The major tenants are still the same, McDonalds and Parkson. Some of the smaller shops have been around for 20 years! The only difference, and perhaps a contributing factor as to why the mall is still frequented by people is the thriving fake goods shops. It used to be a hub for fake DVD sellers, but though there are some stalls around, the main player now are those selling handphone accessories! Yes sir! I have found the cheapest place to obtain handphone cases and ear plugs. They also sell iPad covers and accesories but i did not check out the price. Should be cheap though. Even the dilapidated stores outside Sogo KL and Sungai Wang Plaza, the hub of all things cheap in KL cannot compete with the prices in Holiday Plaza.

An iPhone4 cover ( the type that is like a book cover that you open from the side) was priced at RM45 at the stalls around Sogo and RM35 after haggling. The featured price without haggling for the exact same cover was RM 15 in Holiday Plaza.

I got this RM17 HelloKitty iPhone3Gs cover at one of the shops. The best thing about it is that it's a new iPhone3Gs design! Do you know how hard it is for me to buy a new cover for my old phone?

A cute red bow in front!

These ear caps were going as low as 3 for RM10 at one particular stall, but i wasn't so keen on their designs. The ones below are RM4 each.

Cute ribbon ear caps, RM4 each.

Holiday Plaza is old and run down, but its not without it's gems.

Free Jimmy Choo Perfume with Tattler

The latest issue of Tattler Malaysia comes with 2 bottles of Jimmy Choo perfume samples, one EDP and one EDT, 4.5ml each. Exclusive only to Kinokuniya and while stocks last.

Come's in a tiny paper bag made with flowers.

A generous two samples given out.

I like that it's a GLASS bottle and not a plastic vial.

Smells nice too. Look out for it if you're in Kinokuniya since the magazine is only RM15. It's a great way to sample a perfume before buying since Jimmy Choo does not come cheap. When i was there, there were boxes of samples still available.

And guess what else i bought?

I know!!! I couldn't resist! But i don't' recommend buying this though cos the jewelry pouch is so SMALL!

Same goes for the latest LeSportSac mook giveaway. The bag is so tiny, you should only buy it if you're getting it for a 2 year old.
