Bird's Nest

I'm currently in KL and the only wildlife i see are other people's pets. When i was in Slim River we would get visits from all kinds of wildlife big and small.I do go to Slim River often on weekends, and was i delighted to make an unexpected discovery.

Even before my transfer to KL, i suspected a bird had been trying to make a nest in my bedroom. The reason being, it had been accumulating masses of grass and leaves on the lower ledge of my window. However, whenever i went to check on the progress, it had remained just that- an accumulation of grass. So i thought perhaps the bird had given up due to my numerous intrusions and decided to build the nest elsewhere.

So 3 months later, i hear loads of chirping noises coming from my room. When i lift the curtains the chirping gradually stops.

So i looked up and i saw this!

The birdie had in fact built the nest on the upper corner of my window and the clumps of grass that i saw previously was actually just remnants of the material that fell off the actual nest, or should i saw clever decoy for stupid human?

Every time i peeked i would see a black bird standing over the nest and flying off upon spotting me. Then looking  through the window i would see the bird fly up and down, sometimes with many other birds of the same kind as if protecting the nest.

Of course stupid human had to pry the curtains open further and have a closer look. When i pry the curtains apart, mother bird would fly off and the chirping stops. Was the chirping from the mother bird? I could have sworn it sounded like baby hatch-lings but no mater how i tip toed i could not see or hear anything, and believe you , me i tried multiple times to catch a glimpse of what was in the nest. Pretty blue eggs perhaps?I was just not high enough to get an aerial view of the nest!

Towards the end of the weekend, i still had not deciphered the cause of the incessant chirping. As a last measure resort, i climbed on a chair, positioned my i-phone above the nest and  started taking photos from all angles.Throughout the process, not a single chirp.

And guess what my i-phone captured?

Smart, well-trained (by the mom) baby birds.

These little buggers really got me fooled!Great instincts animals have. Human babies would have just bawled away!

One of them seemed to have an abrasion wound, or perhaps a congenital deficiency of feathers on one part of the body. Anyhow nothing serious. Nothing that warrants any intervention. The mother can take care of it just fine.

With the mystery solved, i vowed not to bother them anymore so that the mother bird can go in with the task of feeding them, and training them for flight.I wouldn't want them to have to shift because of me.

Plus they liven up the house.

Now that i'm back in KL can i have another birdie built it's nest in this  unit too?

so cute the black bird! my house ever has this kind of nest too, i saw the process of how they build nest well it is tedious and tough process. after sometime it become silent and inactive, my father saw eggs inside the nest but unfortunately it has been death, not sure why, the bird didn't come out from the eggs...
